JBL launches a new energy-saving lamp for desert terrariums

The cold nights in the desert prompted the JBL expedition members to have some interesting discussions about lighting and reductions in night temperatures in desert terrariums. When the lighting is switched off in the evening, the night temperature will also drop. This is the case in most desert biotopes, where it can get painfully cold at night. However, you may prefer daytime temperatures that aren’t so high (mountain or high plateau deserts) and in such cases the new JBL ReptilDesert UV Light is exactly the right choice. It does not heat up the air temperature and allows the temperature to be regulated separately with a heating mat day and night to suit the animals. The glass of the new version also has a new coating, to guarantee long term high UV radiation. The new energy-saving lamps are recognisable by their black base.

The third variant is for desert animals which do not need UV radiation. These include scorpions, spiders and others. The opinions differ on the need for UV with nocturnal leopard geckos and for these there is a lamp that does not emit UV and a heating mat where the temperature can be adjusted ( JBL TerraTemp Isı matı ). Once again, we’re grateful for the lively discussions of the expedition members which led to a valuable product.
