Shrimps and other crustaceans are very popular aquarium inhabitants. However, as they are invertebrates, there are some special features compared to fish that must be taken into account. Their sensitivity to copper is the most important issue here. But they also have special dietary requirements, which are not a problem with the right food. The water temperature, which can vary greatly, is also important. Shrimps and snails from Sulawesi require almost 30 °C, while the popular bee shrimps and many other species come from cool waters with temperatures of around 23 °C.
