O-rings and other rubber seals in aquarium technology are mostly used to seal against water leakage (e.g. in filters, CO2 systems, pumps or UV-C water clarifiers). However, these seals have to be well cared for because otherwise leaks can occur. With the right maintenance using JBL SILICONE SPRAY , the seals can be reused very often. Only if they are damaged or if cracks form due to age, MUST they be replaced. The silicone spray should be applied sparingly. Too much silicone spray can cause particles (hair, sand, etc.) to stick to the seal unintentionally, causing leaks. NEVER use sharp objects to remove the seal! An old cut credit is ideal for this. The O-rings are subject to heavy wear, e.g. when the CO2 cylinder is changed regularly, and they especially need regular maintenance using a little silicone spray.
