Product information

Nutrition for aquarium plants
Plants provide the aquarium with vital oxygen for your aquarium inhabitants, prevent algae growth, remove pollutants, provide hiding places and reduce pathogens. Plant fertiliser systems with CO2 cylinders supply the plants with the main nutrient CO2 through the water. The plants absorb this and convert it into sugar and oxygen in photosynthesis with the help of light.

Easy to install
The system is ready for connection, except for the CO2 cylinder, which is not included. Screw the pressure reducer onto the CO2 storage cylinder and connect it by hose to the bubble counter (incl. backflow protection) and then to the diffuser in the aquarium. CO2 thus enters the aquarium and is dissolved in the water with the help of the diffuser. CO2 thus enters the aquarium and is dissolved in the water with the help of the reactor. The CO2 supply can be interrupted at night when a solenoid valve (night switch-off: not included) is connected. The CO2/pH Permanent Test permanently indicates the amount of CO2 dissolved in the water and can then be readjusted if necessary.

The capacity of a CO2 system depends on various factors. The carbonate hardness, the quantity and species of the plants and the strength of the water surface movement are decisive. A 500 g cylinder which is not switched off by a solenoid valve during the night lasts for about 4 months in its default setting.
The recyclable CO2 disposable cylinders can be purchased individually or in a cheaper 3-pack.

The pressure reducer included fits both the JBL refillable cylinders (M system, thread type W21.8x1/14) and the JBL disposable cylinders (U system, thread type M10x1).

FAQ
Do you need a tool to assemble the pressure reducer?

No, a tool is not required and should not be used under any circumstances. The use of a tool can lead to damage. You can mount the pressure reducer on the CO2 cylinder with your hands. Turn only until you feel resistance and then turn about half a turn more. This way the pressure regulator fitting is hand-tight. A short hissing sound will be heard when attaching the fitting to disposable cylinders.

Is it normal that the working pressure fluctuates minimally and decreases towards the end of the cylinder filling?

Yes, this behaviour is normal. The CO2 is liquefied under pressure in the gas cylinder. At 20° C it is 57 bar. If the content decreases slowly and the temperature drops/rises, it may also have an effect on the working pressure. Check the cylinder pressure, as the cylinder is probably almost completely empty.

Is a tool needed to adjust the CO2 quantity?

No, a tool should never be used. The use of a tool can lead to damage. There is a thin spike at the tip of the needle valve. If the needle valve is closed clockwise and turned too tightly or with a tool, it may break off and damage the pressure regulator.

What is the minimum working pressure I need to use the JBL CO2 accessories?

All check valves or backflow protectíons from JBL require a working pressure of at least 0.6 bar for the valve to open. This feature can be found in the JBL PROFLORA CO2 TAIFUN SAFESTOP, COUNTSAFE and INLINE. The JBL PROFLORA TAIFUN diffusers also all already work with this pressure. A higher working pressure is not necessary, which is why all accessories also work with the JBL PROFLORA BIO SETs (except JBL PROFLORA CO2 STARTER BIO SET). Due to installation, a slightly higher working pressure than 0.6 bar may be necessary due to long hoses and other components, which is why the presetting of 1.2 bar is sufficient in any case.

May the JBL PROFLORA CO2 products only be used for the aquarium?

Yes, the JBL PROFLORA CO2 products are designed exclusively for use in the aquarium. The gas contained promotes plant growth and works with fine precision so that even the smallest quantities can be supplied to the aquarium. Constant operation and the safety of the fish are thus guaranteed.

In my opinion CO2 is essential for most of the heavily planted tanks. This product is really user-friendly and it is is to set it up. It is a great start for a beginner.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.
