Easy to install
Connect the water jet pump to the water tap. Connect the long hose to the water jet pump and the other end to the gravel cleaner. Hang the gravel cleaner inside the aquarium. Set the stopcock on the water jet pump to flow. Completely turn on the tap. The aquarium water will be sucked in by the water flowing past. While the water is being sucked in, clean the bottom of the aquarium with the gravel cleaner. To refill the aquarium, close the stopcock on the water jet pump and let fresh water flow into the aquarium.
The water jet pump is a component of the water changing set JBL PROCLEAN AQUA IN-OUT, but can also be purchased separately. It then needs to be attached to the tap thread using a thread adapter (not included). Next a hose (12/16) is needed which leads from the water jet pump to the aquarium and a gravel cleaner (substrate cleaner) is attached to its end.
Regular partial water change
Food remains, plant remains and other metabolic products pollute the aquarium water. Since aquarium filters can’t completely remove these substances from the water and a large part of the waste enters the aquarium bottom, a regular partial water change (about 1/3 of the water content) needs to be carried out every 2 weeks. Always siphon off the waste from the substrate when carrying out a partial water change. After the partial water change a good water conditioner such as JBL Biotopol is vital to prepare the new tap water for fish.
