Product information

Regular water change
Food, plant remains and metabolic products pollute the aquarium water. Since aquarium filters can’t completely remove these substances from the water and a large part of the waste enters the aquarium bottom, a regular partial water change (about every 2 weeks 1/3 of the water content) needs to be carried out. Always siphon off the waste from the substrate when carrying out a partial water change. After the partial water change a good water conditioner such as JBL Biotopol is vital to prepare the new tap water for fish.

Simple to use: Hold the gravel cleaner underwater in the aquarium, shake it up and down and hold the end of the hose inside the bucket. Water will then flow into the bucket. Clean the bottom with the gravel cleaner. To finish, simply remove the gravel cleaner from the water or/and close the stopcock at the end of the hose.

How to clean the aquarium bottom properly:
Push the gravel cleaner into the aquarium substrate with twisting movements. The suction pulls the substrate and the dirt in the gravel cleaner upwards. The substrate falls back down under its own weight and only the dirt is sucked out of the aquarium. With fine sand, you can adjust the suction by lifting the gravel cleaner so that the light sand also falls back down. A sieve in the bell of the cleaner prevents fish and shrimp from being accidentally sucked in. The sieve can be removed for cleaning.
If you have a long-term substrate fertiliser under the covering gravel layer (e.g. JBL PROFLORA AQUA BASIS), do not insert the gravel cleaner far. Insert it only as deeply as the covering substrate layer is thick.

FAQ
What am I doing wrong? JBL AquaEx Set 20-45 sucks in the substrate and clogs up the sieve in just seconds.

A substrate, e.g.: Manado is a rather light substrate. If it is sucked in by the gravel cleaner, it is recommended to reduce the water current as a remedial action.

Your filter bacteria need your full support!

Even though a lot of aquarists believe that their aquarium is kept perfectly clean by the filter, this is nothing but a fairy tale.

Great product ! The valve is a game changer together with the house holders. Now you can adjust the flow very easily with no more wet floors thanks to the holders.

You have there a complete kit and you don't have to buy anything else !

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).
