Killifish (egg-laying tooth carps):
Many killifish are among the most colourful freshwater fish of all and even beat most marine water fish with their blaze of colour! In addition, they are not very large and thus fit into smaller aquariums. In the wild, many of them are adapted to the cycle of rainy and dry seasons: They hatch from their eggs when the rain starts, grow quickly, lay new eggs and die when the dry season arrives, as the waters usually dry up then. This is why they are also called seasonal fish. In the aquarium we do not have dry seasons, except when the aquarium runs out, and the animals can live a little longer. Most, but not all species, prefer soft and acidic water. By adding peat to the filter (JBL Tormec) and JBL Tropol you can make the water suitable for killifish. In their natural habitats their waters are mostly shallow and temporary. Their only food is small insects that fall on the water surface and insect larvae in the water. JBL PRONOVO KILLI has been designed for this food spectrum. The pachypanchax fish among the killies are usually a little more resilient, but they also eat everything that fits into their mouths, as is usual with panchaxes. They tend to live in the upper water layers, while the other killies populate the middle and lower water layers.
The benefits of prebiotic food:
Prebiotics are "substrates that are selectively used by host microorganisms and confer health benefits." Here, scientists are agreed that they promote digestion and thus health. In the case of our fish, there is another essential aspect: with better digestion, less is excreted and the water is thus less polluted, which causes fewer algae problems and keeps the water cleaner.
