Goldfish - the most popular ornamental fish of all! About 1000 years ago, the beautiful colours were bred out of crucian carps (cold-water fish) in China and the goldfish was created, complete with its own scientific name (Carassius auratus). In Japan, the shubunkin form was cultivated around 1900. Goldfish and related breeding forms such as veiltails, shubunkins, comets, orandas, lionheads, red cap goldfish and others have no stomach and are omnivores that can develop a healthy appetite for aquatic plants. Unlike the common goldfish, the bred forms are often more or less restricted in the way they swim. As a result, their food intake is somewhat slower. In the JBL PRONOVO RED INSECT goldfish food forms an ideal supplement to the JBL PRONOVO FANTAIL and contains a high proportion of vegetable ingredients which reduce their hunger for aquatic plants. Insects and insect larvae form an important part of the diet alongside plants. This was also accommodated in the JBL PRONOVO food by adding black soldier fly larvae.
Probiotic or prebiotic - which is better?
Prebiotics are "substrates that are selectively used by host microorganisms and impart health benefits." Scientists are agreed that they promote digestion and thus health.
In the case of our fish, there is another essential aspect: with better digestion, less is excreted and the water is thus less polluted, causing fewer algae problems and keeping the water cleaner.
Flakes or granulate?
To be honest, it’s absolutely up to you! There are only a few arguments for or against the type of food. If you use an automatic feeder like the JBL AutoFood, you MUST choose granulated food, as almost all automatic feeders are only suitable for granulates.
