Product information

Nature as a model
Terrarium animals are cold-blooded animals, which are strongly dependent on light, particularly on the quality and intensity of the light. Activity, food intake, digestion or rest phases are influenced by the change of day and night and the intensity of light. Depending on the light source, there are differences in output and quality of the light.

The right light for your terrarium
The terrarium lamp ReptilDesert UV is especially suited for bearded dragons, tortoises and spiny-tailed agamas.

Species-appropriate UV supply
UV-A promotes the activity, the appetite and the species-specific reproductive behaviour.

FAQ
Does the energy saving lamp for desert terrariums develop heat and UV light?

The energy-saving lamp for desert terrariums, JBL ReptilDesert UV Light, generates near-natural brightness for desert dwellers with a high UV-A and UV-B content, without producing excessive heat. For animals in need of heat, it is advisable to add a JBL heating mat or heat lamp.

Do I need a separate ballast for these lamps?

No, this lamp is directly installed to a lamp holder (e.g. JBL TempSet) and connected to the power outlet without additional ballast.

The JBL ReptilDesert and JBL ReptilJungle energy-saving lamps don’t work in the sockets of the Hagen terrarium canopy Compact Top.

With canopies with double sockets it can occasionally happen that the ReptilDesert and JBL ReptilJungle energy-saving lamps don`t make contact with the current-carrying wire of one of the sockets. This is because of tolerances in the production of the canopy. In this case it helps to switch over the lamps from one socket to the other. We do not recommend installing energy-saving lamps containing UV-B inside canopies which are mounted on the top of the terrarium. They are not only too far away from the reptiles, but they also result in stray light loss through the wire gauze of the screen cover. With an all-glass canopy the filtering effect of the glass prevents almost all of the UV-B radiation from reaching the terrarium animals. The combination of the JBL ReptilDesert and the JBL ReptilJungle energy-saving lamps with a JBL TempSet and a JBL TempProtect (as reflector) is the ideal installation inside a terrarium. This combination ensures that the activity supporting UV-A radiation and the UV-B radiation for vitamin D3 synthesis reaches the reptile adequately.

Lighting in the Terrarium

As cold-blooded animals, terrarium animals are far more de pendent on light, i.e. the quality and intensity of light, than warm-blooded vertebrates. Activity, feeding, digestion or resting phases are influenced by the alternation of day and night, and especially by the intensity of light.

The Desert Terrarium Part 2 - Lighting

The desert habitat involves both extreme heat and brightness. Unlike in the rain forest, there is nothing to stop the light reaching right down to the ground. The animals only have stones or scarce plants and woody growths to withdraw under.

Send your terrarium animals to the tanning salon

A lot of terrarium animals thirst for the sun and, in addition to the heat, need the UV radiation found in sunlight. And while there are many terrarium lamps which promise UV, very few actually deliver it.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.
