JBL Denitrol
Bacteria starter for freshwater and marine aquariums for the problem-free introduction of aquarium fish

  • Adds millions of beneficial, autotrophic and pollutant-degrading bacterial strains to the aquarium water, making immediate fish stocking possible. Highly recommended after using medications or after a complete water change
  • Shake the bottle well, measure the right amount in the dosing lid and evenly distribute in the aquarium
  • Live bacteria cultures with enzymes for rapid pollutant degradation in fresh, brackish & marine water. The bacteria have been inactivated so that they don't need food (NH4, NO2) in the bottles and do not produce NO3. Activation through water contact
  • It is no use simply waiting for a healthy bacterial population to grow in your aquarium, as hardly any beneficial bacteria will develop in a new tank without water pollution. Bacteria only react and reproduce when they have a lot of food (NH4, NO2).
  • Package contents: 1 bottle Denitrol. Use: 10 ml for 20 l water during the initial setup and with disease, 10 ml for 300 l water during water changes

Nature at home – home for fish and plants
Fish need to be as comfortable in the aquarium as they are in nature. When setting up an aquarium and during partial water changes the aquarium needs sufficient bacteria to be biologically cleaned and to quickly break down harmful substances. Bacterial starters contain highly active beneficial bacteria which break down the ammonium/ammonia and nitrite as well as the fish excrement and other waste in the water.

Advantages of the JBL bacterial starters
Live autotrophic bacteria, breakdown of ammonium/ammonia and nitrite through active bacteria, breakdown of fish excrement and other waste.

Autotrophic bacterial strains grow somewhat more slowly than heterotrophic bacteria, but are faster and more efficient when breaking down pollutants (nitrification).

8 complementary bacteria cultures to break down protein, ammonium and nitrite.
Gradually start with the stocking of fish in newly set-up aquariums immediately after adding JBL Denitrol.

Opinions vary as to whether fish can be added as early as one day after the aquarium set-up. Microbiologists have observed that bacteria reproduce very slowly in a new aquarium when there is no water pollution (nutrition for bacteria). But if you add fish the next day without using a bacterial starter, problems with ammonium/ammonia can occur, because the bacteria reproduce too slowly to keep pace with the production of pollutants at first. When using JBL Denitrol (60 minutes after adding JBL Biotopol) higher quantities of bacteria are present. The next day, after THE FIRST fish have been added, there is food for the bacteria and they start to reproduce. This will make sure that there are always enough bacteria, so that neither ammonium/ammonia nor nitrite can become a problem.

FAQ
High nitrite value - addition of bacteria and effects

When JBL Detoxol is used free ammonium is bound in the water, which provides immediate relief for the fish. This removal of ammonium also prevents any further nitrate from forming. Any nitrite already present is not bound. If you have high nitrite values, carry out a water change beforehand. A subsequent addition of bacteria will help you maintain a sustainable and biological removal of ammonium and nitrite.

How many fish, shrimps or snails may be inserted after 15 minutes?

After adding JBL Denitrol into initially set up aquariums you can add 1 cm fish per 2 litres of water. You can raise the fish stock after 14 days.

May I feed the animals on a regular basis during the first three weeks?

No, you need to feed them very sparingly with maximum 25% of the usual amount. The bacteria are adapting to the current water load and may not be overstrained. A slow increase allows the bacteria a stable adaptation to their environment.

Can you overdose Denitrol?

With Denitrol you can add up to five times the amount of a dose.

What happens, when Denitrol has been dosed and the animals aren’t added until several days later?

If you don’t immediately add your animals, the cleansing bacteria included in Denitrol will quickly die from lack of food. If you wait a few days before adding the animals (against the advice of these instructions) problems will occur with ammonium/ammonia and nitrite. In the end, the bacteria will not be able to develop and will die off due to a lack of food. As a result the ammonium excreted by the fish will not be broken down. Since no bacteria are present to oxidise ammonium into nitrate in two steps, a nitrite peak will occur despite the application. If the first fish are introduced immediately after the addition of Denitrol, the purification bacteria get food and begin to multiply. This is comparable to an unathletic person who starts doing sports and first has to "train up" his fitness. This ensures that there are enough bacteria right from the start and that neither ammonium/ammonia nor nitrite become a problem when more fish are added. Please always increase the fish stock moderately and only after a few days.
