No diving - but a pond at least

As a biologist and nature-lover I enjoy observing and photographing animals in the wild. Since I don’t have time for a trip into nature every day I’ve brought a piece of nature home to me. In my apartment I have an aquarium and in my garden there’s a pond!

Unlike the aquarium, peopled only by creatures I put in, the pond is full of surprises and the new organisms just keep on coming. New dragonfly species, new plants, and sometimes even new fish, which weren’t secretly added by my wife, they were "imported" through birds and fish spawn.

Now I'm not the sort of person who goes to the pond to relax and do nothing. I find it really exciting to observe the change of seasons at the pond. Plants come and go, frogs come, croak, and go. Suddenly newts are there! Then the fish have fry. If I’m in the mood I can tweak things a bit, build a babbling watercourse, remove some mud, feed the fish, something like that. Or the edge of the pond with its visible liner will start to bother me, I’ll have an idea how to hide the foil better.

The pond actually means I spend more time in the garden than I used to - and I like that. Luckily, it’s fairly low-maintenance. Hamsters needs 50 times as much attention. Now and then I don’t have the time to observe my biotope in the garden as I’d like. But a pond never gets boring!

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.
