A few days ago we heard the tragic story of the injured neritina. And how Tina Benneker came up with a creative solution to care for the wounded animal. We had never dreamt of what else JBL Haru could be used for, beyond its normal intended purpose! Read for yourself the unbelievable story Tina Benneker posted on our JBL Facebook page:
“I have a story to tell you about the tragic accident with a happy ending. On May 29 I bought some absolutely stunning large neritinas from Frank Schenk at Fisch und Heim . When putting them into the aquarium, it happened. One of the neritinas slipped between my fingers and fell on the tiles. I was shocked to see that a large part of its shell had broken off. Without its shell the snail had no means of survival and would have died. But I remembered that with Achatinidae you use eggshell to paste over the snail’s shell. This keeps the animals alive until they have time to build a new layer of shell from the inside. Without hesitation I found the JBL Haru underwater adhesive and stuck the broken part back on again. I was careful not to get any of the adhesive inside the shell and to patch the piece from the outside only. Today, almost 7 months later, the animal is still happily crawling around the tank. I think you could call it a successful recovery. So you see, Matthias Wiesensee, Haru adhesive isn’t just great – it’s a real lifesaver!
Yours Tina
