Hands On Terraristics: Easter exhibition in the Animal Park Part 4/5

Yesterday ( Hands On Terraristics: Easter Exhibition in the Animal Park Part 3/5 ) the men especially showed their courage - after all, it was "Men's Day". With a chance to hold a tarantula in your hand or to have a snake touching your beard - the men really got their money's worth and proved that these animals really aren’t scary. The journalists were thrilled by the creepers and crawlers as well.

In this five-part series we’ll give detailed reports about the exhibition, the animals and our experiences. To highlight our cooperation with the Terrarienkreis Kiel (TKK), we have included the club members’ reports in journal form unedited to this post. We are always delighted to cooperate with passionate people, especially in this increasingly shrinking hobby segment.

Below you will find the original report by Philipp Kirchhoff and his team from Terrarienkreis Kiel:

Easter (Sunday, 21 April 2019)

Some of the members were still feeling the after effects of the Easter fire, but quickly recovered as the morning went on. The weather did not let us down and once again the park was filled with visitors. The warm temperatures and the intense sunshine meant we had to shade and open the roof of the Paradise Hall.

It was the same in the Tropical Hall, as the temperatures threatened to rise to 35°C, like the day before. We needed to open several doors - a fully new experience. In the previous years it was mostly too cold. There was a slight mishap with our Mexican red knee tarantula Isolde when she peed on a visitor. This was another fully new experience in all our exhibition years. No doubt an omen for good luck.

The fact that our insects were so well received made us very happy. Apart from the Malayan jungle nymphs there were also the golden-eyed stick insects, those giant locusts from South America (Tropidacris collaris), stick insects, bizarre looking Australian walking sticks, Madagascar hissing cockroaches and many more.

By Easter Monday we had reached the home stretch.

The weather remained fantastic and the visitors continued to stream in. We really couldn't have asked for more. At this point we need to mention that with crowds like this the well-being of the animals took priority and we were unfortunately unable to meet every demand for interaction with them.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.

JBL GmbH & Co. KG provides this service free of charge, and it is easy to activate or deactivate.
