Can Furanol 2 cause intolerances in fish and invertebrates ?
The active ingredient in Furanol 2 has been tested comprehensively with fish.
Antibacterial active ingredients generally damage the filter bacteria. The water parameters, particularly the pH level, carbonate hardness, ammonium/ammonia and nitrite, must be monitored by regular measurements during the treatment.
In the event that intolerances occur in fish (e.g. apathy) during the treatment, please discontinue the treatment, do a generous water change of at least 70 % (making sure to vacuum the bottom with a gravel cleaner) and place activated carbon in the filter.
After that, the diagnosis should be verified, e.g. by doing a skin smear and a microscopic examination by a veterinarian, in order to check whether there really is a bacterial finding.
