Product information

The light spectrum of aquatic plants, however, varies considerably from the spectrum in the home or the LEDs for torches. What’s important here is the photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) range and a full spectrum which covers ALL the spectral ranges of the visible light spectrum. It is the combination of these two components which has enabled the creation of the perfect light for aquarium plants!

The special features of the new JBL LED SOLAR lights:
The JBL LED SOLAR lamps are suitable as replacements for ALL fluorescent tube lengths. Along with the light, the standard JBL SOLAR NATUR equipment includes a remote control unit for simple and professional operation. With the IR remote control several JBL LED SOLAR systems can be operated simultaneously, as the frequency of the IR receivers is identical. If you don't want this, just move the receivers further away from each other. Then each LED unit can be operated individually with the same remote control.

Marine water: The JBL LED SOLAR NATUR was originally developed for freshwater aquariums, but has also proved very popular with marine aquarists, as almost all cultivated corals come from shallow waters where they receive full sunlight. If you combine the JBL LED SOLAR NATUR with the JBL LED SOLAR EFFECT, you’ll attain a colour temperature of 7800 Kelvin.

Lengths: the lengths stated (e.g. 16 W LED = 43.8 cm T5/T8 tube) refer to the fluorescent tube you are replacing.
Length of the lamp: 16 W/43.8 cm; 20 W/54.9/59.0 cm; 28 W/74.2 cm; 31 W/84.9/89.5 cm; 47 W/104.7 cm; 48 W/114.9/120.0 cm; 53 W/144.9/150.0 cm
Length with plug-on holder suitable for: 16 W/45-70 cm; 20 W/55-80 cm; 28 W/75-100 cm; 31 W/85-110 cm; 47 W/105-130 cm; 48 W/115-140 cm; 53 W/145-170 cm
General calculation of lamp length:
Stated length e.g. for 31 W 849 mm incl. retrofit adapters for the replacement of fluorescent tubes, minus adapter lengths (always the same): -50mm -5mm= 794mm real lamp length.

Compatibility of the JBL LED SOLAR Gen.1 to Gen. 2:
Most parts are compatible with each other. If you need to replace your remote control or the IR sensor you will only be able to connect both to the other generation as the IR receiver and remote control must always be from the same generation (same frequency).

FAQ
Why are there several T5 adapters in the package?

While you may have thought that all 24 W T5 tubes have the same length, there are in fact many different lengths with the same wattage on the market. That's why we've included two different adapters to facilitate a safe and easy installation. In case of an unsuccessful installation attempt, please try an alternative adapter from the box.

Why doesn't the LED switch off immediately when used with the JBL SolarControl?

Whether for theme aquariums or in manual mode, whether for a lunch break or at sunrise or sunset, the LEDs always dim down slowly. This always provides your fish and plants with a natural light profile and also protects your LEDs and increases their lifetime.

Can the SOLAR NATUR and EFFECT LEDs be of different lengths?

No, that is not possible. The JBL LED DRIVER which you received with your daylight LED is designed for the power of the construction length of the NATURE + the same construction length of the EFFECT. A longer JBL LED SOLAR EFFECT would not be sufficiently powered by the power supply unit due to the greater power needed.

What is the maximum aquarium height for which the JBL LED SOLAR range is designed?

The JBL LED SOLAR NATUR and EFFECT are for aquariums with a maximum length of 170 cm. The typical height is 60 or 70 cm. The PAR value, which is important for plants, and the amount of luminous flux in LUMEN both decrease with increasing water depth and with cloudiness and refraction at the water surface. You can see from the following measurements that at up to 70 cm water depth there is still enough nutritious light for your plants:
https://www.jbl.de/de/blog/detail/500/

What happens if my LED light falls into the water?

The IP67 (IP68 for Gen 2) protection class ensures that you can even use the LED with closed covers and high humidity without damaging the luminaire. However, it must never be operated directly under water. Its protection class states that the luminaire is dustproof and protected during a temporary submersion. However, this does not mean that the LED may be operated submerged! You will also find a note on this in the manual. Should the LED accidentally fall into the water and be submerged, the IP67 (IP68 for Gen 2) protection class will serve as a protection for your personal safety against electrical accidents. In such cases, please unplug all the mains plugs first - do not reach for the LED immediately - and only then remove the device.
As long as the LED light is on, there is no problem with moisture under water. The resulting heat provides additional protection. If the lighting is switched off and cooled down, condensation can still form on the inside, as if glasses were fogging up. Please therefore install the LED light at a distance of at least 15mm from the highest water level. After an accidental submersion, you will need to have your LED inspected by the JBL Customer Service Team at the factory.

PUSH messages from JBL

What are PUSH messages? As part of the W3C standard, web notifications define an API for end-user notifications that are sent to the user's desktop and/or mobile devices via the browser. Notifications appear on the end devices as they are familiar to the end user from apps installed on the device (e.g. emails). Notifications appear on the end user’s device, just like an app (e.g. for emails) installed on the device.

These notifications enable a website operator to contact its users whenever they have a browser open - it doesn’t matter whether the user is currently visiting the website or not.

To be able to send web push notifications, all you need is a website with a web push code installed. This allows brands without apps to take advantage of many of the benefits of push notifications (personalised real-time communications at just the right moment).

Web notifications are part of the W3C standard and define an API for end user notifications. A notification makes it possible to inform the user about an event, such as a new blog post, outside the context of a website.

JBL GmbH & Co. KG provides this service free of charge, and it is easy to activate or deactivate.
