In community aquariums with different species of fish, the ornamental fish you keep will have different demands on the food. JBL PRONOVO BEL takes the different feeding types into account and offers your fish a wide variety and choice for a natural and healthy diet. If you wish to further enhance the range of foods available, you can supplement the staple food JBL PRONOVO BEL with other foods from the JBL species concept and with treats.
JBL PRONOVO BEL staple food, the perfect nutrition for all omnivorous fish and fish communities
The protein/fat ratio of 6.3:1 exactly represents the ratio that is ideal for most tropical fish species. Higher fat contents would lead to fatty degeneration in the organs of warm water fish (23-30 °C)! In fish communities, as in most community aquariums, the 15 main ingredients of PRONOVO BEL form a perfect nutritional base that can (but don’t have to) be supplemented with species foods to individually adapt and further diversify the diet of your fish species. It’s no problem if, for example, your bettas also eat the food for your barbels and vice versa. It is only important that you offer the right food for each group of fish. Variety is always good!
It is really important to choose a food size that fits the mouth size of the fish species. Flakes soften quickly and can be eaten by almost all fish species. It is a different matter with granulate, where the smallest mouth size of the fish you keep decides which food size you buy. You’ll find the fish size the food is suitable for written on the bottom left of the tins. It is better to choose a food that is on the small side rather than one that is too large!
Regarding garlic: Fish, of course, are not familiar with garlic from their habitats. But observations we made during the JBL expeditions in the South American Pantanal showed that fish reject underwater plants and prefer to jump out of the water to eat the apparently tastier leaves of the bushes and trees at the water's edge! These contain more flavour than the "slimy" underwater leaves. This is exactly the effect that adding garlic achieves.
Why is squid meal included in a freshwater food when there are definitely no squid in freshwater? High-quality squid meal (as a highly digestible animal protein source) offers a nutrient composition typical of molluscs, which many fish are familiar with from natural foods such as clams and snails. Squid meal, therefore, is a very healthy and energy-supplying raw ingredient, also for freshwater fish!
